In addition to the weekly church services there are also numerous active groups.
We also run a Messy Church every quarter for children and families. (See our facebook page for dates)
If you would like to be involved in any of the groups below or need more information, please do get in touch...
HOUSE GROUP (small group)
Every second Tuesday we meet at 7.30pm at the home of Sandy Hutchison to have a time together as a small group to meet and enjoy friendship with each other as we study the bible. We are always open for anyone to join us, just get in touch for dates. We are currently studying prayer in an 8 week prayer course by Pete Greig.
BIBLE STUDY/ PRAYER
We meet on a Tuesday morning (apart from summer break) at 10.30 am in the Bruce Hall. The first half an hour is taken up with tea/coffee and chat. We then open our bibles and follow through a theme or book of the Bible. Some members of the group take a turn at leading us through the passage followed by a lively discussion. (40 minutes) Our morning finishes with a time of shared prayer. The group has members from other churches and denominations. We meet in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You are sure of a friendly welcome
The Church of Scotland Guild is a movement within the Church of Scotland which invites and encourages both women and men to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and enables them to express their faith in worship, prayer and action.
The Guild runs a project partnership scheme, supporting 6 projects for 3 years in the UK and round the world and since 1997 has raised£7 million pounds reflecting the Guild in action.
Our current 3 year strategy is Look Forward in Faith.
Muthill Guild is joining with Crieff Guild for meetings this year. You will be very welcome to attend any of our meetings. Contact us for further information or look on facebook for any notices of meetings.
MEN'S GROUP
The Mens Group aims at providing regular fellowship for the men of the congregation and welcomes any interested men from the village. It meets for coffee and chat usually every Wednesday morning around 11am in the north lounge of the church and this is used to plan
other activities of interest to the group. This informal gathering further provides the opportunity to go on to the soup and sandwich lunches which are organised in the church’s Bruce Hall every Wednesday at 12.30pm. Out of these coffee sessions came the early idea of creating a voluntary car service for the village and already this has become a serious project now being created as an independent charity, Muthill Community Transport Group. The Group is also seeking to use its available
DIY skills to improve the vestry in the church building and make it a more conducive space not only as a vestry but also as office accommodation and as a comfortable space for one to one meetings. The Group also hope to work with the new Pastoral Care Team in providing
simple household repairs and support to any people on the pastoral care list. Finally, fellowship also includes outside activities including occasional visits to places of interest and the occasional fun meal out.
The coffee and chat sessions are particularly suitable for the older age because of their timing during the day but the other activities of the Group cover different times and days of the week and are open to anyone of any age who is interested in making new friends.
The Church operates a Soup and Sandwich Lunch every week which is held in the Bruce Hall on a Wednesday at 12.30pm. This is a chance for everyone to come along, meet up with others and enjoy a delicious plate of home-made soup and a sandwich followed by tea and biscuits for the very reasonable charge of £3. If transport is a problem, let us know and it will be arranged.
We look forward to seeing you and feel free to bring along a friend, all are welcome. Contact us for further information.
BOOK CLUB
The Church has a book club which meets monthly and is open to all church members and village residents. It meets monthly on a Friday afternoon over tea and cake to review a book chosen in turn by the members of the group. By all accounts, such review sessions are great fun and greatly expand understanding of the books chosen. The Club comprises members of different age groups but all have a common interest in learning from each other and expanding each other’s love of reading.
Muthill SU group meets Mondays during term time from 3 – 4 p.m. It is open to all children in P4 – P7 ( or anyone home schooled of that age group).
We meet in the North Lounge when, after juice and biscuits, we have fun exploring God’s word through games , discussion and other activities.
Members of the group who are P5 -7 can also sign up for SU weekends or camps or to attend any other SU events in our area.
Currently both boys and girls attend the group and we welcome anyone who has not been before to come along and join us.
Permssion slips are issued by the school and the children are collected at the school door each Monday by one of the leaders.
PASTORAL CARE
The Church has a pastoral care team which aims to provide regular contact to all attached to the church who want visits or contact on a regular basis. The Team is selected by Coordinators appointed by the Kirk Session with each member undergoing Safeguarding approval. They meet quarterly to review the organisation and delivery of the service with appropriate training being organised.
SINGING GROUP
Praise in considered an important part of Sunday worship services in Muthill Parish Church and to assist in leading congregational singing, introits and special songs for services, there is a Singing Group which meets on a Thursday evening starting at 7pm for about one hour.
The Church aims to have a balance of modern and well known favourites in its hymn songs and Thursday evening practices seek to ensure that the weekly Sunday worship is well led and that there is always opportunity to learn new songs.
